Currency

Boxes and boxes of things I've collected
Left only to collect dust by themselves
Living in a world consumed by consumption
When it all goes to waste on the shelves of our minds

We're raised to spend what we earn
And when we can't afford to spend anymore
We borrow, we steal, we charge to a tab
We care about getting richer, not cry for the poor

God calls to abstain from loving money
But I know that I was bought for a price
With the greatest currency you'll ever imagine
God paid to have me, with the blood of Jesus Christ

Currency is used to make transactions
But God saw fit to use it for mercy
When I deserved death, Christ took the fall
Now I live for Him, though I am not worthy

With nails in his hands and thorns on his head,
I was sold before birth to a loving God
Now I live, not in debt, but free to live content
Because of the Man who paid for the flawed

Hebrews 13:5
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

01 March 2012

One of those days.

Last week I started a notebook of things that I am thankful for. I write one thing each day and usually post it with a photo of that thing. I started this because I know that it is easy to get distracted with the upsetting things in the world on a daily basis and I wanted to record and look back on the many blessings in my life.
Now, 10 days later, I am grateful that I started this challenge because today has turned out to be one of those distracting days. After a nightmarish sleep, a headache, forgetting books at home, losing a pen, and a long day of classes - you can see that I am quickly forgetting to be thankful for the good things that happened today - like a coffee date with my brother, seeing my best friend, eating delicious food, driving to school safely, let alone being able to go to school at all!
This day will soon escape my memory, but I pray that the act of being grateful will always be on my mind!
(1 Thessalonians 5:18) Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

all the glory!

i've now been home twice as long as i was away, but i thougt i might as well start up this old blog again.

and to kick things off i decided to share a verse that i want to be the theme for any future posts.

1 corinthians 10:31. so, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.

that is my prayer for this blog, and most importantly, my life.
